For this reason, roof restoration is usually cheaper than a replacement.

This really depends. The size of your roof and height of your home are large factors as well as any repairs you home may require before a roof restoration can go ahead.

An averaged sized house could be as cheap as $2,500 for a roof restoration whereas a larger home could increase up to around $5,000.
